STC GIRLS IN MATH CLUB HOLDS MEETINGS

STC Girls in Math Club held its last meeting of the semester on April 26 with 13 students attending. They discussed the need for the all-girls’ club and the club’s mission which is “to support and inspire minority women’s interest in the STEM fields by promoting STEM Associate degrees and to create a community where students can socialize, share interests, and support each other to meet their educational goals.” Leslie Hurtado was selected as the first president for the club.

STC held a STEM Summit on April 14 at the Pecan Campus and the Girls in Math Club distributed flyers to recruit students for the Pecan club.  Three students signed up.

The club held their second meeting on April 12 where they decide on a club logo and a design for a club shirt.
