ACC ASCENDER INTERN, MARTINEZ, RECEIVES RESEARCH CHAIR POSITION

By Diana Gorostieta Martinez

ACC Ascender intern, Diana Martinez, was part of a group of ENACTUS students who participated in a Research Project on August 25th to help the Kids Prosper Kids Organization learn more about the education and culture in Ghana to help students prosper in their own country. Kids Prosper Kids (KPK) is a student-driven, non-profit organization that is breaking chains of both entitlement and poverty at a local and global level.

Martinez, an ACC 2018 Ascender graduate, had the opportunity to be part of the Enactus organization at Texas State University, where she is currently on track to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in 2021. She was interviewed and received the Research Chair Position for the KPK project.

“My main goal was to guide, lead, and work with my team by gathering high-quality information through the university databases. Our research was meant to help other teams such as International, Social Media, and Web Management with relevant and current information they could use to promote and create awareness of Kids Prosper Kids. We gained insight into factors that affect students in Ghana and the current industries that will help students pursue a career field of their choice in growing industries,” commented Martinez.

Thanks to the Texas State ENACTUS, Texas State students of all majors were able to apply what they have learned by giving back not only to their community, but to help students in another country.
