TACHE VOICES OF EXCELENCIA PANEL MENTIONS ASCENDER PROGRAM

The 47th Annual TACHE State Conference was held in Ft Worth from February 27th through March 2nd.  On Tuesday March 1st, the featured panel Voices of Excelencia plenary highlighted Texas-based institutions that have been recognized by Excelencia in Education for going beyond enrollment and demonstrating their intentionality to serve Latino students, while serving all. Panelist Dr. Ruth Reinhart, Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Support Services at Austin Community College, spoke about the Ascender program at ACC.

“The Ascender program has really expanded. It’s all about familia and having events that are cultural,” Reinhart said. “We know that there are some populations of students that just need more support, different levels of support and so we really have done some really great work,” she added.
