Marc S. Martinez is a proud native of San Antonio and a graduate of the SanAntonio Independent School District. He went on to attend Texas A&M University in College Station, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Shortly after completing his undergraduate studies, he began his career in the criminal justice system as a Juvenile Detention Officer with the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department. Following his time with Bexar County, Marc accepted a position with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) – Parole Division in the McAllen-Edinburg area of the Rio Grande Valley. After several years, he returned to his hometown of San Antonio, continuing his work with TDCJ’s Parole Division across the East, West, and South sides of the city. During this time, he also earned a master’s degree in justice administration from St. Mary’s University. Marc was subsequently hired by the United States Probation Office, where he served with distinction. During his tenure, he began teaching criminal justice courses at St. Mary’s University—a commitment he maintained for approximately 14 years. His dedication and leadership eventually led to his promotion as Assistant Deputy Chief Probation Officer overseeing the San Antonio region. In addition, Marc has also served as a Firearms and Safety Instructor, and as the Search & Seizure Program Administrator for the Western District of Texas. Upon retiring from federal service, he continued his work in higher education, teaching courses at Northwest Vista College, Northeast Lakeview College, and Our Lady of the Lake University. A strong advocate for education, Marc obtained his Texas Teaching Certification and returned to his roots by teaching Law Enforcement at his alma mater within the San Antonio Independent School District. Most recently, he joined San Antonio College as a full-time Criminal Justice faculty member. His passion for teaching, mentoring, and professional development has been a driving force throughout his career. He is deeply committed to guiding and supporting students who are interested in pursuing careers in the criminal justice field.
