Laura Flores

Dallas College
2024 Cohort

Laura Flores serves as Senior Manager for Academic Transfer Programs at Dallas College. In her role, Laura directly oversees the Ascender program for first-time-in-college students and is responsible for leading recruitment, student and faculty engagement. and retention and programming efforts.

Over the course of 10+ years, she has provided leadership in areas of student engagement and leadership development, first-year support, first-generation success, peer mentorship, DACA and Dreamer student support, and more.
Her passion in working with college students can be attributed to her experience as a first-generation Latina student with a “non-linear” academic journey. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Woman’s University and later pursued her master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

As a self-professed “foodie,” Laura enjoys exploring new places to grab a bite. When she’s not on the search for the best street taco, she can be found spending quality time with her family and friends..
