STC CAMPUSES' ASCENDER STUDENTS ATTEND FALL FESTIVALS

STC Campuses' Ascender Students Attend Fall Festivals

STC fall festivals began at 6 pm and ended at 9 pm. Admission was free and there was entertainment for the whole family which included carnival rides, live music, a pumpkin carving contest and much more. A costume contest with categories for both adults and children began at 7:30.

Mid-Valley Campus

Mid-Valley Ascender club students sold nachos, pizza, and hot Abuelita chocolate as a fundraising activity at their campus’ Fall Festival on October 23 at parking lot #2. “The weather was perfect for hot chocolate,” commented instructor Esmeralda Macias.

“My experience at the Fall festival was awesome! Getting to be a part of something that means so much to this club was an honor. It was cold and drizzling, but that still didn't stop us from getting the job done. So glad I got to volunteer and serve nachos. Seeing the people's smile when receiving their nachos filled my heart with joy.  I loved wearing my new shirt and representing the Ascender club. I will forever be grateful for this club because it's helped me be more involved in school activities,  making new friends and making new memories,” Lucia Corpus‎, Ascender student, commented.

Starr Campus

Starr County Ascender students took a leadership role in participating in the Fall Festival on October 25th because Dr. Anna B. Alaniz, club sponsor, was not present at the event. They worked together to make Mexican candy apples, sold different types of candies, and even created posters to advertise their booth. They were also in charge of the Gladiator Inflatable carnival game.

Pecan Campus

Pecan Ascender Club students had three different fundraisers at their fall festival on October 30th   held in front of Bldg. G.  They had games for children to play like “fishing” for floating skulls and popping balloons shaped like a pumpkin. Participants also had an opportunity to have their photo made with a student dressed up like Captain America. Prizes were gloves filled with popcorn and Twix candy. There also was a free photo booth.
