Carlos Torre


Carlos Antonio Torre earned three degrees in Human Development at Harvard University: Ed.M.; CAS; and a doctorate.

He is, currently, Professor of Education at Southern CT State University and a Fellow at Yale University, where he served for seven years as Asst Dean of the College and member of the Psychology faculty. He is also currently the President of the New Haven, Connecticut Board of Education.

He is an elected member of the Academy of Arts and Sciences of Puerto Rico, awarded the Academy’s Medal of the Academician (other awards include from the Society for Chaos Theory in Psychology and the Life Sciences).

He has numerous publications on non-linear dynamics applied to education. His research seeks to: 1) identify characteristic patterns in the autonomic nervous system associated with particular emotions and their effect on the teaching-learning process; 2) develop an understanding of how our biological heritage influences the ecology of education.
