JOIN US FOR ASCENDER'S SPRING SEMINAR
Our Ascender Program will be holding its Spring training session for faculty and staff on March 7-8, at the Frank Fickett Center in Austin, Texas.
Our agenda includes innovative sessions from experienced program practitioners in language arts, math, Learning Frameworks and advising as well as speakers such as Frank Savina, a program specialist and master teacher from the UT-Dana Center, and Eileen Galvez, a dean of Yale College who will present on “Imposter Syndrome” and its impact on faculty morale and student retention.
Other Session Topics Include:
- Sustainable Pedagogy for a Changing World
- The Right Math at the Right Time
- Recruitment, Retention, and Reporting: An Advising Panel
- Using Visual and Performing Arts to Create Culturally Relevant Curriculum
- Student Engagement by the Numbers: A Look at Effective Practice
Additionally, our reception will be held on March 7 from 5-7 and feature a keynote by Birgit Siceloff, a Nurse Practitioner at Weill Cornell Medicine and Visiting Lecturer at the Global Health Service Partnership as well as a reading by Oscar Casares, director of the Creative Writing Program at UT-Austin and author of Brownsville: Stories and Amigoland.
We are excited to welcome all of our 2018-2019 cohort of new faculty/staff as well as returning attendees who want to strengthen their current skills, explore new ideas and approaches, and share best practices.
