Dismantling Barriers: Opening Math Pathways that Empower Our Students
In this October 2019 Teaching and Learning for Student Success Webinar, Frank Savina of the University of Texas Dana Center reviews many of the myths that surround Mathematics learning in higher education and how they negatively impact Latinx students, in particular. Savina goes on to explore some of the recent efforts of states, such as California, where colleges are seeing tremendous gains in students' Math success by implementing intentional mathematics pathways and corequisite options as means to overcome some of the harmful myths about Math learning and mindsets.
