The Mid-Valley Ascender club collected and donated books to the Reading Club’s Book Swap. They called it “Booksgiving.”
STC Starr Campus Ascender students participated in the Relay for Life on November 3 in support of a cure for cancer. The club members donated $100 to this cause.
Amanda Rodriguez is 20 years old and finishing her third semester at South Texas College. She returns as a part of the Catch the Next internship program for the fall of 2018.
PAC Ascender students visited The University of Texas at San Antonio on November 9. More than one hundred forty students endured the cold temperature, wind, and rain to see the campus. The tour was led by former Ascender student, Juan Higa
ACC Ascender students attended campus tours at Texas State University, St. Edward's University, University of Texas at Austin and Concordia University.
Some of ACC Ascender students participated as volunteers for the city parade, Viva La Vida Fest, organized by the Mexic-Arte Museum on Saturday, October 27.
Whenever possible, site visits conducted by CTN include a panel of Ascender students who volunteer to answer questions about the program.
Students and others on ACC Highland campus were encouraged to “grab a butterfly and write on it a thought dedicated to someone who has passed away or to place an image of someone who has passed away” on their Altar de Muertos.
STC fall festivals began at 6 pm and ended at 9 pm. Admission was free and there was entertainment for the whole family which included carnival rides, live music, a pumpkin carving contest and much more. A costume contest with categories for both adults and children began at 7:30.
STC Mid-Valley campus Ascender staff, students and families celebrated Noche de Familia on October 25th. Approximately 150 people were in attendance.
